Media: Peter spoke with Ross Crockford (Focus) who plans on doing an a story prior to the project going to the COTW. His observations: very strong opposition to the project at the CALUC and he suspects Aryze will make some (insignificant) changes just to say they have. He’s noticed the lawn  signs and thinks they have efficacy (are effective). Wants to be kept in the loop. Media event: Perhaps we can stage a demonstration at 902 with signs and do a press release to get coverage? I think this is a potentially potent idea especially if some kids attend.

Alec Johnston head city planner Gonzales. He advised that as the CALUC has now closed there are several stages as to the next steps. Aryze has the option of making changes to the plans based on the feedback it  received from the CALUC meetings or input from the website or it can simply request city staff to take the proposal to the Committee of the Whole. Think they will lily make a few token changes just to say they have “listened”) then submit to the COTW. The committee of the Whole can do one of four things: 1. refer back to staff with the direction that staff work with the applicant on making certain changes, 2. refer it to an advisory panel or a hybrid type panel including advisory panel and heritage panel to work with the developer to make certain changes, 3. decline the application (unlikely), or 4. move the application  to the city council for a hearing and vote (subject to certain formalities i.e.registering a right of way on Foul Bay Rd. We need to check the schedule every Friday after 4:00 PM to see if the proposals on the agenda for the next COTW as that is the most notice we will get (6 days!) Here is the link:  Council & Committee Meetings | Victoriahttps://www.victoria.ca/EN/main/city/mayor-council-committees/council-committee-meetings.html Also Alec Johnston advised that the wording in the summary report from staff regarding the covenant is not specific and only boiler plate. So I think we note do not mention those as part of the process : "Further note: A housing agreement, restrictive covenant, master development agreement or right- of-way requirements may apply to this development. If this is the case, then the applicant is advised to secure the services of the necessary professionals (lawyer, surveyor, engineer) as early on in the process as possible to ensure timely processing of this application. " On other matters:
